VOX at UCF and What We Are!
Although we love our old website dearly, it's time for new things! As such, this is our new site for updates on our RSO (Registered Student Organization). We are VOX: Voices for Planned Parenthood chapter at the University of Central Florida. We exist to educate the university community about reproductive health and rights, translate this increased awareness into pro-choice activism on campus, and to serve as a coalition partner to state, national, and international reproductive rights.
Being pro-choice, we believe that every man and woman have the right to make choices pertaining to their own bodies. In short, every individual should have the fundamental right to manage his or her fertility. VOX supports full access to comprehensive reproductive and complementary health care services in settings that preserve and protect the essential privacy of and rights of each individual. In addition, VOX advocates public policies that guarantee these rights and ensure access to such services. We also support access to medically accurate educational programs that enhance understanding of human sexuality.
As an on-campus student organization, we work to educate and mobilize students in support of reproductive health and rights. We organize public events, educate peers, support the local Planned Parenthood of Greater Orlando health centers, and mobilize students and other youth to speak out for reproductive rights and access to reproductive health services.
With all the work that we do, we are always looking for new members! Since we started our chapter four years ago, we've always remained close to the Women's Studies department at UCF. Thus, if you're looking for a fun way to rack up those Service Learning (SL) or community service hours, be sure to join us! Whether it's credits, leadership, friends, or getting involved in the community, VOX is happy to have pro-choice students involved and raring to go!
